Overview

The Project Manager III (Senior Project Manager), serves as a highly experienced, independent project manager within the IT Project Management Office (PMO).
This role is responsible for managing multiple concurrent IT projects and initiatives, partnering closely with business and IT stakeholders to deliver reliable outcomes using established PMO standards and practices.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Project Planning & Governance

  • Participate in annual project planning sessions with business sponsors and maintain project plans through monthly ITSC updates.
  • Facilitate the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of incoming project requests through the Project Review Team (PRT) process, including business assessments, sponsor approvals, and backlog management.
  • Attend and actively contribute to weekly PRT meetings to support prioritization and resource allocation decisions.
  • Update and maintain ITSC content, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of project status, roadmaps, and key initiatives.
  • Independently manage multiple concurrent IT projects and initiatives from initiation through closure.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, task tracking, and documentation consistent with PMO standards.
  • Manage scope, timelines, dependencies, and day-to-day execution activities to ensure projects remain on track.

Stakeholder Partnership & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned business stakeholders.
  • Manage expectations, priorities, and delivery timelines through regular communication and status updates.
  • Translate technical activities, risks, and issues into clear, business‑friendly information.
  • Proactively identify when decisions, clarification, or escalation are needed and act accordingly.
  • Manage IT system and project communications to business stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service by establishing, improving, and enforcing IT project management processes, standards, and documentation.

Risk, Issue & Change Management

  • Identify, track, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies across assigned initiatives.
  • Apply judgment to resolve issues independently when possible and escalate appropriately when needed.
  • Manage change requests and evolving requirements while maintaining delivery momentum.

Agile & Process Improvement

  • Serve as Scrum Master or Agile lead for assigned initiatives, facilitating Agile ceremonies as appropriate.
  • Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile and Scrum best practices to promote continuous improvement and delivery effectiveness.
  • Participate in or lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) sessions for IT-related initiatives to improve process efficiency and outcomes.

PMO Standards, Tools & Process Discipline

  • Consistently apply established PMO methodologies, tools, and governance processes.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and tracking within PMO systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO processes, documentation, and best practices through practical feedback and experience.

Vendor & Contract Coordination

  • Coordinate and support the review Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and Statements of Work (SOWs) in collaboration with IT leadership, Legal, and vendors.

Professional Development

  • Continuously develop leadership and project management skills through formal training, conferences, and practical application across diverse IT Initiatives.
  • Attend project management conferences and technical training as required to maintain professional proficiency and awareness of industry best practices.

Experience- Based Leadership & Support

  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced project managers or coordinators to improve delivery consistency and PMO maturity.
  • Support PMO operational activities such as intake processes, prioritization discussions, and workload balancing as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology or related field or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Scrum Master Certification or other Project Management Certifications is a plus.
  • Five or more years of related experience required.
  • Experience with manufacturing and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Experience working and driving consensus with diverse groups of people.
  • Experience with documentation and organization of data.
  • Proven analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with the following Microsoft Office products is preferred: Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
