Overview

The Sustainability Co-op will assist the Environmental and Chemical Engineering Department, Sustainability Team, and other core departments in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives and projects. Such activities include energy, water, air, and waste savings.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Active participation on the Sustainability Team.
  • Research sustainability initiatives.
  • Focus on pollution prevention by completing projects that concern energy and/or waste reduction.
  • Investigate alternative products that will minimize environmental impact.
  • Develop and implement sustainability projects.
  • Perform waste audits.
  • Research resource and source waste routing options.
  • Identify and develop metric implementation.
  • Monitor and track sustainability key performance indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.
  • Develop in-depth databases for sustainability and environmental documentation.
  • Assist in the technical writing of sustainability and environmental program development.
  • Organize company-wide environmental volunteer activities.
  • Prepare sustainability reports.
  • Develop communication materials regarding True’s sustainability goals.
  • Regular and reliable attendance in the office is required.
  • This position requires work to be performed on-site at our corporate office and does not provide for working from home offices.

Qualifications

  • Full-time student, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, chemical or environmental engineering or similar field required.
  • A student in their junior or senior year is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required.
  • Interest in sustainability.
  • Interest in environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time properly.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic programming knowledge preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work with team members of varying levels of job responsibilities.

The duration of this co-op is May to December, Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
