Overview

The Production Planner ensures that the proper parts are available for production in a timely manner and in the correct quantities to support the production schedules. This entails a combination of creating fabricated parts orders and the movement of existing parts.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the proper parts are available for production in a timely manner and in the correct quantities.  Work with production, scheduling and engineering to make sure that units are built in a timely manner with all the correct parts. 
  • Review the master productions schedules and order the parts required for upcoming production in the JD Edwards system with the appropriate lead times, using the bills of materials available in JDE.
  • Schedule, create, and distribute work orders for the fabricated parts required for production.  Communicate the orders to the various departments that fabricate the parts and make sure they are completed on time. 
  • Follow up on past due work orders and report any issues to management that might affect production. 
  • Transfer purchased parts from the main storage locations to the production lines as needed per the master schedule.  Communicate issues with the purchasing department and management.
  • Maintain inventory spreadsheets using tools available in Excel and JDE.
  • Track daily usage of parts on the assembly lines by recording the daily production in your inventory.  Conduct factory counts as required to keep inventory records up to date in areas that are not cycle counted.
  • Review and process PCNs and Proformas, as they relate to the models produced on the assembly lines you monitor.
  • Actively participate in cross functional pilot run and first production run teams.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business or similar field preferred.
  • Two or more years of related experience with bachelor’s degree; OR five or more years of related experience with High School diploma or GED.

  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Material handling experience with an integrated manufacturing planning system is very beneficial.
  • The candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) to be able to drive a company car.
  • Prior experience in inventory control, master scheduling or production planning is a plus.
  • Experience with an integrated manufacturing planning system would be very beneficial.
  • Must be proficient with the use of the applications in Microsoft Office.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Candidate must be comfortable in both a factory and office environment as position requires equal time in both.

The hours for this position are 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
