Overview

The Robotics & Automation Intern will shadow and assist the automation project team and technicians in the design, build, programming and testing process of new custom automated robotic machines. They will also assist the technicians in troubleshooting and repairing automated and robotic cells as needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shadow and assist the automation project team and technicians in the design, build, programming and testing process of new custom automated robotic machines.
  • Assist the project technicians with fielding service calls to diagnose and repair automated CNC, PLC and industrial PC controlled machinery and equipment, including robots, welders and a variety of sheet metal, copper tubing, wire shelf and glass door fabrication equipment.  
  • Perform assigned tasks as needed based on skills and abilities.
  • Submit service reports in a timely manner utilizing computerized maintenance management software, Maintenance Connection.
  • Have an energetic and positive attitude showing initiative and taking a high level of interest in the work and being sure to ask lots of questions.
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate parties regarding project or machinery repair status.
  • Communicate frequently with STAT Dept. Manager and Assistant Manager regarding the status of projects, repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of one year of technical school in Automation or Electrical Technology degree or certification program at an accredited trade school required.
  • Basic knowledge and use of basic hand tools is preferred.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Positive, collaborative, and open-minded attitude.
  • Self-motivated, responsible and ambitious.
  • Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Can represent themselves, the department and the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to work well and effectively communicate with team members.
  • Computer skills: General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software preferred, but not required.

The hours for this position are 5:40am - 4:10pm, Monday through Thursday.
